Ingredients:

For the bread:

  • 150g strong white flour, sifted
  • 50g self raising flour, sifted
  • 25g margarine/butter
  • 150ml warm milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp quite acting yeast
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar

For the filling:

  • 25g brown sugar
  • 25g margarine/butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp mixed spices
  • Optional: dried fruits, fruits, coconut, chocolate etc.

For the icing:

  • Icing sugar
  • Water
  • Optional: any type of flavoring

How To Make:

1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees.

2. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl and use the rub in the margarine/butter.

3. Heat up the milk until lukewarm.

4. Add the yeast into the flour mixture and pour the milk.

5. Then mix it into a soft dough and knead it for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

6. Roll it out into a square.

7. Melt some butter and brush it over the dough.

8. Put the sugar, butter, cinnamon, mixed spices and optional ingredients into a sauce pan and heat it up until the butter and sugar is dissolved completely. Let it cool down for a few minutes.

9. Pour the wet ingredients onto the dough. Don’t pour too much sauce on.

10. Roll up the dough like a swiss roll. Then cut it into even slices.

11. Oil a baking tin and arrange the slices on, leaving some space between each roll and levee it to rise until it doubles in size.

12. The bake them in the oven for 20 minutes until the rolls go golden brown.
